So, for those who didn’t know, I’m on the Junior Swim Team. We meet Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. And, it’s always really tough, of course. But today-we swam 1000 yards.
That’s, like, 3/4 of a mile.
Or something. I don’t know. My brain isn’t in math mode right now.
Anywho, it’s a lot. We started out by doing 20 lengths of whatever stroke we wanted. One length is 25 yards. So 20 lengths is 500 yards. That’s almost a third of a mile.
And that was just the start.
Then we did eight lengths of just kicking, followed by six 50s, which is 50 yards (one lap) six times. And each lap we were supposed to try to do in 50 seconds. By the end…my legs and arms were…falling off.
Okay, a bit of exaggeration, but seriously. I was soooo tired!!!!!!!!! And super hungry.
So, yes. I swam 1000 yards today. Which sounds really big and scary, but professionals do half that just for their warm-up. Don’t get me wrong, today was really tough! But I wouldn’t have survived it even just a couple months before.
