My goal as a writer

I believe the goal of every serious writer is to write about real problems. Real internal problems, that is. Maybe none of us have ever fought an evil witch and her army, or used magic to literally fight for our lives and protect the Muggle world, or been trapped inside a giant arena and forced to kill or be killed. But I’m sure all of us have struggled with betrayal, fear, having to choose between right and wrong, acceptance, forgiveness, trust.

Anyway, that’s my goal as a writer. I want to write about things that teens my age struggle with. I’m going to do this by writing about my own struggles, because I know I’m not alone in any of them. My hope is first, that my writing would let teens know that they’re not alone in their struggles, and second, that maybe my writing will help them see that struggles don’t have to last forever, and mistakes don’t define who are you are. If anyone gets any advice from my writing, it’ll only be what I’ve learned through all my ADD crap. God’s taught me a lot this past year and a half, and I feel it’s my “calling” to write about it.

So that’s my goal as a writer. To write things that are relatable, by writing about my experiences.
